Article 12 of the United Nations Conventions on the Rights of the Child (UNHCR) states that young people with views should have “… the right to express those views freely in all matters affecting the child, the views of the child being given due weight in accordance with the age and maturity of the child.

One of the main methods at Clancy Catholic College for seeking diverse ideas among the students is through student leadership. This structure utilises grade leaders and Year 12 leaders who come together fortnightly to engage in student consultation around the best ways to address student needs.

Clancy Catholic College has already had important successes with student voice including:

  •  The Clancy Mural which captures the essence of our school
  • The ‘Re-imagining Spaces’ initiative which has changed the design of learning spaces based on student input
  • The ongoing development of the Indigenous Garden
  • Consulting HSC students on how the College can better meet their needs.
